Undercover is one in a series of objects designed for the Single life workshop held by Droog design and IDII. It was taken by Droog to be exhibited in its own show at the Salone del Mobile 2006 in Milan.
Undercover is a sonic blanket that transmits sound waves to the skin of its wearer. The blanket has an embedded array of small speakers that can receive a wireless audio signal via a bluetooth connection. This audio signal can be beamed from any kind of audio device such as portable music players, boomboxes, laptops, radio, etc.
Undercover treats the skin surface as a topographically rich, cuddly eardrum, allowing its wearer to get a tactile sensation of sound. Volume can be controlled by tucking the fabric ears located at either side of the blanket.
