More EL visiting cards (work in progress)

new batch of EL calling cards for animals
El calling cards on

These visiting cards have not been assembled yet. The EL panels are taken from cheap safety night lights for kids then painted over and pimped up with foldable NEMA 1-15 blades (non-grounded plug type that can be used in most parts of the American continent and Japan).

Animal visiting cards can glow in blue and green, depending on the voltage and amperage (the second image shows the cards glowing white because they were scanned, not photographed). As of yet there’s nothing interaction-designy about them, but that hasn’t stopped us before, has it? By the way, empiric user research has shown that most people get a mild, nice electrical shock when connecting the cards to a wall socket. Zazaziza is currently exploring ways to seize this unexpected sensorial opportunity.

Electroluminescent biz cards for farm animals

electroluminescent standalone business cards for farm animals

Business cards you can plug in wall sockets (NEMA 1-15). Who would need that? we have no idea (well, there’s a good reason why this blog is called “for no good reason,” right?). Anyways, this is part of an ongoing research project using (anything)luminescent materials. We got somewhat tired of chasing fireflies during the last month so we decided to give electroluminescent (EL) panels a chance. Granted, is real old school and sports the handicraft of a toddler with boxing gloves on, but, hey, we have to start somewhere! EL origami here we go!
